For bonding and repairing vulcanized silicone rubber and for sealing valves during curing, a thin skin will form on the surface of the adhesive after one minute. Any shaping of the silicone adhesive must be completed before this skin begins to form. To shape transitions, a wet modeling tool or ice cube proves useful.
